Starting Aviation & Me

My journey to Starting Aviation and Me

Hey there, fellow dreamers and aviation enthusiasts! ✈️ Buckle up because I'm about to take you on a wild ride lasting the next 3 years on my journey into the aviation sector . Yep, you heard it right – this blog is all about my journey navigating the clouds, breaking stereotypes, and maybe even convincing a few of you that the sky is the limit (or not, depending on your altitude). I'm starting this in 2023 when I am 15 and I will be navigating my way through GCSEs, A-levels and getting into aviation ( which is quite a challenge!)

My love for aviation started in Lockdown watching NonstopDan Airline reviews. I remember sitting there watching the first ever video where Dan was reviewing an Emirates A380 business class suite and being in complete awe and fascination, little did I know those 16 minutes would completely change the entire course of my life. As soon as the video was over I hoped on my phone to look at jobs within the aviation sector: my first point of call was cabin crew as Dan had portrayed the crew in such a light and enjoyable way. After looking at it for about 30 minutes I decided against it as I'm not much of a people person and the job felt very overwhelming. Next I looked at aeronautical engineering but soon decided against that as I had already chosen my GCSE options and had dropped engineering. One thing led to another and soon I ended up on the Emirates Website for pilots I vividly remember just sitting there for what really was the upend of 2 hours watching every video, reading every text and that is where I will always say my fascination truly began. Over the next 3 years my fascination and determination only grew and now 2 days away from 2024 I know I am an "Avgeek" and I can see my future lit brightly like a tail light illuminating an airline's logo!

I am deciding to start this blog now because in truth I have been putting it off for a while! I am extremely scared to start this blogging adventure but in the end I have to be real with myself ; aviation is all about reaching new heights and stepping out of comfort zones to do so and what better way to get used to stepping out of my comfort zone by starting a blog which I've wanted to do for about a year? I am in the cockpit with the controls of my life and anxiety and fear are not!

So, picture this: a girl with a passion for planes, a love for adventure, and a dream to conquer the skies. That's me! I've decided to ditch the ordinary and dive headfirst into the extraordinary world of aviation. From geeky reviews of my holiday flights to navigating the turbulence of exams and school life, I'm here to spill the beans on what it's really like to be a girl with aspirations of soaring high in an industry that's been mostly a boys' club and how I'm going to get there.

But hey, it's not just about the fancy planes and cool uniforms (although, who doesn't love a snazzy pilot hat?). It's about proving that the sky isn't reserved for just one gender. I want to share the ups, the downs, and the loop-de-loops of my journey – because let's face it, life (and teenage years in particular!) is an unpredictable flight, and I'm ready for the turbulence.

Expect tales of adrenaline-pumping takeoffs, navigating through stormy school subjects, and the sheer joy of cruising at 35,000 feet. Oh, and I'll definitely be commentating on industry objectives, gossip and some behind-the-scenes insights – ever wondered If there is any need to have a First Class when your Business is just *that* good? Hint: it still involves lots of money! (although, maybe not as much as First Class!).

So, whether you're an aviation geek, a fellow dreamer, or just curious about how to get above the clouds, join me on this adventure. Let's swap stories, share laughs, and maybe, just maybe, inspire a few more girls to spread their wings and chase their aviation dreams like me.

Fasten your seatbelts, folks – we're cleared for takeoff! 🚀✨
